Taking the Weekend Off

Hey all,

On the advice of commentor "K," I am taking the weekend off - completely. I'm not answering any emails. I'm not logging onto the internet. I'm not reading any essays, newspapers, magazines or books (which will be difficult because I just got my first issue of National Review in the mail!) I'm not going to talk politics. I am even going to try not to think about politics and the state of the country/world, and I am hoping that effort will be successful. :-)

The last few weeks have been especially grueling, on top of the almost nonstop efforts that started in February. I definitely needed a break.

I'm suggesting this to others as well. If you're feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, tired, anxious, upset, and on and on, then try to take this Labor Day weekend off as well. Try to avoid news and politics for at least a couple of days and just enjoy your family and friends. We need to be well rested and strong for the upcoming battles. I know I need a recharge, and I wouldn't doubt many of you do as well.

I've ignored my fiance for about seven months now, poor guy. We're going to just be a normal couple for a few days and just live life.

So have a FANTASTIC weekend, and thank you for your patience regarding responses and posts.

Analysis of Organizing for America's Emails: "Special Interests" and "Lies" Abound

I've spent a lot of time compiling this information, culled from many, many emails from Organizing for America. However, this does not represent all of the emails sent as I deleted many of them before starting this project. I'm working on an accompanying video, which was the "big" thing I have been working on recently. Take the time to look at the almost comical use of "special interests," "partisan," "status quo," "lies," etc. When you see them all together like this, you realize how ridiculous these people are. You also realize that they are hypocrites and fear mongers of the worst sort.

Enjoy.

September 3, 2009

“As Congress returns to D.C. and we roll up our sleeves for the final push toward reform, we know the hardest work may yet lie ahead. The special interests and those in Congress who have pledged to oppose the President no matter what will stoop even lower in the weeks ahead.”
Email from Mitch Stewart, Director, Organizing for America
September 3, 2009

Lastly, remember how they spent the last few months denouncing us and our "mob tactics," calling us astroturfed and accused us of supporting the "status quo" because we dared to speak out at tea parties and town halls? Remember how we all donated untold hours and dollars to self-fund every event we've held? The President and his cronies didn't like that. Pelosi said we were "un-American." Behold the audacity of hypocrisy.

“All of these signatures, calls, office drop-bys, conversations, gatherings, and town hall meetings, all of the late nights, homemade signs, long hours in the sun, and tireless volunteers who make it happen -- totaling more than 1.5 million people who've taken part in this campaign for real reform -- it all adds up to one incredible movement for change.”
Email from Mitch Stewart, Director, Organizing for AmericaSeptember 3, 2009

(Is anyone else amused by the reference to "homemade signs?")

Alternative Health Care Reform Bills - Make the Push

We had about 40 people show up, which while totally outnumbered, is still awesome on such short notice and horrible advertising on my part!

Thank you to everyone that battled the RIDICULOUS traffic downtown today to stand up for our side. I heard that one person got hit over the head with a sign from a wandering Obot. The police escorted the Obot back to the other side of the street. Luckily, everyone still has all of their digits! You never know with those crazy mobs... of Obots!!!

Again, thanks you guys! You made me PROUD!!

Now. We must steer the public debate and media towards these other bills that have been introduced. Every rally you go to, every conversation you have, every tweet you post, every status update you make needs to start focusing on these other bills. Here they are again:

Coercion is Not Health Care Act, HR 2629
Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act, HR 1495
Patients' Choice Act, HR 2520 (Go here or here for the actual text and here for the summary.)
Empowering Patients First, HR 3400
Health Care Freedom Act, S. 1324 (Go here for the actual text and here for a summary.)

Now, I haven't read through all of them yet, but they are ALTERNATIVES and this is what we need right now. We need people to start going through these bills and their summaries in order to become familiar with their proposals. So when an Obot throws something like, "status quo" or "against reform" or "you have no ideas," you can say, aha! Yes I do. Get these bill numbers and names OUT THERE!!!

COUNTER PROTEST TONIGHT!!! Everything you need to know.

Come one, come all, to the Funeral for Health Care Part II. Our first funeral for health care occurred on May 30th and was a resounding success. It was like David and Goliath, with us playing the role of David, and HealthCareNow.org, MoveOn.org, Planned Parenthood, WashPIRG, WACAN, Jim McDermott, Patty Murray, etc. starring as Goliath.

Ready for the rematch??

What: Counter rally against HR 3200, a public option, and any more government intrusion into our health care and our lives. It is a rally for health care reform that allows for increased freedom and liberty, using the free markets to lower the cost of health care.
Where: 4th and Pine, downtown Seattle. We will be on the north side of Pine, across Pine from Westlake Park, where their rally is located. It will be a similar set up to last time, in front of the Starbuck's.
When: Thursday, September 3rd
Time: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Don't be nervous if no one is there yet. People have to come from work and find parking, so be patient.)
Info: Parking is usually difficult in downtown Seattle, but it might be easier as this is after work hours. If you can though, carpool or take public transportation. Click here for Metro (bus) and here for the light rail.

Okay, so I think we've done a great job at highlighting the awfulness of Obamacare. Now is the time for the big blitz about alternative health care reform bills that have been introduced. I think that we can kill HR 3200 and its companion in the senate, and a public option, if we force them to actually debate other bills (like Ron Paul's) and we hold their feet to the fire. If we start putting the other bill numbers and names on our signs, we'll start getting press for them. See, I have no doubt that 90% of Americans have no idea that any Republicans have introduced any version of reform. Let's get that message out.

So here are my sign ideas for all future rallies and events, including tonight's. Take what you will and change it however you would like. Just try to start naming these other bills. I've linked to the bills I am naming in the sign suggestions below. Lastly, I haven't had time to read these other bills, except Ron Paul's because it's only seven stinkin' pages (but the whole thing refers to the tax code so you have to cross-reference a lot) but the point is to force them to look at other bills. Be the marketing that the Republicans don't have.

The bills I am referencing below are:
Coercion is Not Health Care Act, HR 2629
Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act, HR 1495
Patients' Choice Act, HR 2520 (Go here or here for the actual text and here for the summary.)
Empowering Patients First, HR 3400
Health Care Freedom Act, S. 1324 (Go here for the actual text and here for a summary.)

  • Coercion is Not Health Care Act (HR 2629): Keep America mandate free!!
  • Liberty and justice for all! Pass the Coercion is Not Health Care Act (HR 2629)
  • You want options?? How about debating the Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act (HR1495)??
  • Real reform can't wait! Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act (HR1495)!!
  • Hey Pelosi: we want comprehensive health care reform!! HR 1495!!
  • The Comprehensive Health Care Reform Act (HR 1495) is only SEVEN PAGES!! Even Jim McDermott could read that!!
  • HR 3200 = 1100 pages, HR 1495 = 7 pages. Less pages = less government intrusion = less waste.
  • WE WANT CHOICE! The Patients' Choice Act (HR 2520)
  • I'm pro-choice (about health care) and I vote! The Patients' Choice Act (HR 2520)
  • Listen to my voice! I want a choice! The Patients' Choice Act (HR 2520)
  • Reform, don't transform!! We want the Health Care Freedom Act (S.1324)!
  • Liberty and justice for all! Pass S.1324 - the Health Care Freedom Act!
  • Empowering Patients First! HR 3400!!
  • Stop empowering politicians and special interests! Start empowering patients! Vote for HR 3400!
Surprise, surprise. There are MANY options out there and Obama and his crew (read as Pelosi, Reid, the Democratic Industrial Complex, and the media) have completely ignored them all.

SPREAD THE WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They Just Don't Get It

So apparently the White House/Dept. of Education is rewording the activities that are supposed to follow Obama's little "dear leader" speech in the schools. Here is the original wording:
Among the activities initially suggested for pre-K to 6th grade students was to "write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president." Another assignment for students after hearing the speech was to discuss what "the president wants us to do."

And here is the revised wording:
The suggestion about writing letters has since been changed to: "Write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short-term and long-term education goals. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals."

They just don't get it. The problem is that they obviously thought it was acceptable to ask students to think about how they could help him - the President. Why wouldn't the President be asking them to help their country? That's the problem and they are so clueless. The White House keeps trying to say that it's just a motivational speech from the President of the United States to inspire kids to do well in school. Well, that's great. But if they were really trying to do that, and not trying to indoctrinate kids into thinking we all revolve around him, then the President (and the subsequent activities) would focus on students doing well for themselves, for their families, and for their country - NOT for him.

And We're Supposed to be The Angry Mobs?

Ouch.

You Just Can't Make This Stuff Up

Ha ahahahah ahah aha haha ah ahhahahahahhh!!!

As if beaming the President into every classroom isn't bad enough - reminiscent of Kim Jong-Il and other megalomaniacal leaders - apparently there are some Barack "primers" for children to read as well. Check it out. My favorite passage:
Even as a boy, Barack knew he wasn’t quite like anybody else, but through his journeys he found the ability to listen to Hope and become what he was meant to be: a bridge to bring people together.

Whaa? He was meant to be the bridge that brings people together? Ahem. Maybe he doesn't realize yet that that is his destiny 'cuz he sure as hell isn't doing it. Note to Barack: you don't become the bridge that brings people together by appointing 32 czars, one of whom is a self-described communist revolutionary that calls Republicans a**holes, and another of whom wrote an eco-science paper about using forced abortions, mass sterilizations, and putting birth control in water supplies in order to control populations. Just a little F-Y-I.

Feeling Better and Some Strategies To Ponder - Updated With Contact Info

Update: Blue Dog member list here; find House contact info here and Senate contact info here; and contact info for weasly Republicans that might cave to a compromise - Grassley, Snowe, Collins, and Independent Lieberman.

Now that I'm feeling more like myself (read: not totally frustrated and overwhelmed - thanks for the pep talks from all!) here are some interesting points/directions/strategies to ponder.

1. We definitely must vigorously and thoroughly keep the heat on the Blue Dogs and the weasly little Republicans that might compromise on HR 3200. Nothing but a complete and total defeat of that particular bill - note, I did not say of any reform - is acceptable.

2. Speaking of reform - you know that there are more bills out there than HR 3200, right? For instance, Ron Paul has introduced his own health care reform bill. Does it have a chance of ever getting debated or taken seriously by the House leadership? HA. Yeah right. Even if you don't like Ron Paul, you might like his bill (I haven't read the whole thing yet either), or you may just like the thought of someone like him trying to battle Pelosi's bill.

This line of thought brought me to the tactic of writing and calling our Representatives and Senators (or visiting Patty Murray on Fridays this month) and asking them this series of questions, or something similar:

a. Does the Rep/Senator support health care reform, i.e. making our health care system better?
b. Does the Rep/Senator want to vote for the best possible reform?
c. Does the Rep/Senator think that it takes time, input, and debate to craft the best possible reform?
d. Does the Rep/Senator know that there is more than one health care reform bill out there?
e. Has the Rep/Senator looked at any of the other bills? Why or why not?
f. Does the Rep/Senator believe that all the answers lie in the one bill, HR 3200?
g. Why has the Rep/Senator not brought to light at least portions of these other bills that might have better solutions than those found in HR 3200?

and on and on - something like this. Basically, I want to trap them into admitting that it's not even "reform" they are after, because it is not. It is the path to single payer health care and it is about buying votes from now until forever. My theory is that if they are serious about health care reform and doing what is right by the American people, then they would be taking their sweet, sweet time, looking at many different bills, including ones by Republicans and conservatives who may have different ideas about reform.

What do you think?

Having a Rough Day

So many things going on and happening! They are really and truly throwing everything at us at once, L-I-T-E-R-A-L-L-Y: cap and trade; health care takeover; indoctrination of school children; 2nd Amendment issues; freedom of speech issues such as talk radio and attempts to silence people at town halls; attacks on free markets and anything profitable or capitalistic; sovereignty - states from fed and fed from international; privacy issues; freedom of the internet and press; redistribution of wealth to buy votes; and all this while unemployment rises and the economy tanks.

Way to go Barack. You promised to turn the economy around and all you have done is try to transform the complete foundation and structure of this country. I hope all you "conservatives" and independents who voted for him and his cronies are happy with this monstrosity of a presidency. This man is worse than Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Chavez and Castro combined. He doesn't give a you know what about anything this country was founded upon, or anything that made this country great. He has an image of what he thinks a country should look like, and he is just the messiah to lead it.
I told a friend that I feel like the human beings in the Matrix, living in Zion, trying to fight the machines as they breach the city walls.

I went to MSNBC to see what kind of state propaganda they were churning out today and I guess I accidentally rolled over an ad, causing it to expand to about three-quarters of the page. Look at the bottom, left-hand corner to see who is sponsoring the ad.

Tear up your AARP cards now and call them to tell them that you are done with them.

I'm not in a very good mood today. The headlines and the nonstop attack on the very core of this nation and its people is sickening sometimes. If you have any pep talks, send them my way. Today is a hard day.

Events Starting September 1st! The Fight is HERE!! Please Read!!

Here's a real quick update on events happening in the next three days and an update on the town halls and counter protests yesterday. Please pay particular attention to the counter protest happening this Thursday evening.

The counter rally outside Dave Reichert's office was a SMASHING success! We had over 100 people to their 35 or 40!!! Congrats to everyone who made it down there on such short notice, and remember, what do I always say??? WHEN WE SHOW UP, WE WIN!!!

I heard from a friend who tried to go to Brian's town hall last night and apparently Brian switched the venue at the last minute to accommodate his union thug friends, musical performances, university staff, and every other body he could find to fill the seats. My friend said that when they "opened the doors" to let people in that the venue was already halfway filled up with Baird's supporters.

The crowd started getting really rowdy and unruly so my friend left as he was totally outnumbered and actually feared for his safety. I wonder if that would have been the case if Baird hadn't changed the venue that same afternoon? Call Brian Baird's office and let them know how you feel about them changing the venue so suddenly and allowing bands to play, and union thugs to fill up the seats first. Email him here, and call him here: (202) 225-3536 and here: (360) 352-9768.

The Norm Dicks' town hall in Bremerton was AWESOME! There were 1100 people there, with 200 or more that got turned away because there was no room, and literally, there were around 8 anti-Obamacare questions for every 1 pro-Obamacare question. It was amazing! No one told us to go or paid us to be there, and it was Dicks' friends who held the mics and randomly picked people to ask questions.

Anyway, the events:

Counter Protest Against Socialized Medicine:
The Funeral for Health Care II
What: Remember May 30, when we countered the giant march and rally that was funded by all those unions and left-wing groups?? Well they're up to their old tricks and we MUST be present to oppose them. I'm going to paste their description of the event below so that you can see what we are up against... (i.e. how ASTROTURFED they are...)

Join Congressman Jim McDermott, along with Organizing for America, Health Care for America NOW, SEIU, UFCW 21, the Washington State Labor Council, WashPIRG, and Planned Parenthood Votes for an evening rally at Westlake Park. We will release the full list of speakers and acts once confirmed. Please join us as we send the strongest signal yet to Congress that Washingtonians support strong Health Insurance Reform.

It is unreal that they accuse us of mob tactics and astroturfing.
When: Thursday, September 3rd

Time: Their rally starts at 6:00 p.m. so I suggest we start at 5:00 p.m. and go until 7:00 p.m.

Every Friday You Can Visit Patty Murray - Be there this Friday, the 4th!
What: That's right! Every Friday through the month of September, Patty Murray is opening her office to 15 minute visits, all day long. You will get to sit down, one-on-one with her health care staffer , Mary Conway, and talk about your views. This is a pretty golden opportunity (though I feel annoyed because we're supposed to be grateful for these scraps she's throwing us...)
When: Every Friday during September, but we are specifically holding a rally this Friday, September 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to make a splash.
Where: Federal Building 915 2nd Ave., Seattle, WA
