Volunteers Needed to Make Phone Calls!

Volunteers Needed to Call Some Doctors!
What: The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) and Tea Party Patriots have organized a Doctor's Rally on September 10, in Washington D.C. If you have any time at all, please consider helping out.
Contact: If you want to volunteer, please email Kathryn Serkes at kathryn@takebackmedicine.com, and put "Volunteer to call WA Docs" in the subject line. You can check out the AAPS's website here for more information about how they are fighting against this legislation, and fighting for doctors and patients.

Other Upcoming Events - Whew!!

For the current list of town halls, please go here. (As of 8/27/09)

This post is all about the other types of events that are coming up on us fast. Again, I know we all have lives to live and things to actually do, but now I see why we're so behind on all this organizing stuff. This is ALL these people do, and have done for the last 50 years! They have literally been paying people to be activists, and while it is totally unfair that we all have jobs and hobbies and families, etc., we are the first ones to acknowledge that life is not fair and that's that. Just roll up your sleeves and try to have fun. It'll be worth it when you can look at your grandchildren and tell them you fought in the battle to keep this country free.

Young Republicans vs. Young Democrats at the Intiman Theater
What: A reading* of excerpts from the play, Abe Lincoln in Illinois, followed by a discussion of the play and related current events. Readers are members of the King County Young Republicans and members of the Young Democrats of Washington.
When: Tonight, Thursday, August 27th
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Where: Intiman Theater, 201 Mercer St. at Seattle Center
*I'll be reading and would LOVE to have some support! I think this could be a really interesting evening, and an opportunity to engage people who might normally blow us off.

Volunteers Needed to Call Some Doctors!
What: The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) and Tea Party Patriots have organized a Doctor's Rally on September 10, in Washington D.C. This rally will take place two days before the big taxpayer march on September 12. You can check out the AAPS's website here for more information about how they are fighting against this legislation, and fighting for doctors and patients.

MoveOn.org Photo Petition
What: The creative folks at MoveOn.org launched a new campaign to support ObamennedyCare (or KennebamaCare... whatever) and are asking people with sad sob stories to send a photo of themselves holding up a sign that supports the current legislation and a public option. I wrote about it a couple of days ago, so go here for all the details.
When: Ongoing, just email your picture to them whenever.

Counter Obots Outside Dave Reichert's Office
What: Organizing for Obama has put together a "press conference" outside of Dave Reichert's office on Mercer Island, in an effort to "change his mind" about the health care legislation. We all know too well how weak Dave's backbone can be (see his vote on Cap 'n Tax...) so we need some people to show up at his office to counter the Obots.
When: Monday, August 31st
Where: Dave's office, 2737 78th Ave. SE, Mercer Island, WA 98040
Time: 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Info: We have no formal agenda, so just show up with your signs and we will assemble peacefully to share our views on the subject. SUGGESTION: make positive signs. What I mean by that is let the world know that you are all for reform, just not the kind of reform they want. Their main attack against us is that we are "for the status quo" and "hate change" and all that crap. Show them with your sign or flyers that you want a different type of reform. One of my faves is: "Reform, don't transform."

Counter Obots Outside Rick Larsen's Office
What: Same type of thing as above. Organizing for Obama is putting together a "press conference" in front of Rick Larsen's office. Don't let them be the lone voice.
When: Tuesday, September 1st
Where: Congressional Offices, 2930 Wetmore Ave Everett, WA 98201
Time: 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Info: We have no formal agenda, so just show up with your signs and we will assemble peacefully to share our views on the subject. SUGGESTION: make positive signs. What I mean by that is let the world know that you are all for reform, just not the kind of reform they want. Their main attack against us is that we are "for the status quo" and "hate change" and all that crap. Show them with your sign or flyers that you want a different type of reform. One of my faves is: "Reform, don't transform."

Counter Protest Against Socialized Medicine: The Funeral for Health Care II
What: Remember May 30, when we countered the giant march and rally that was funded by all those unions and left-wing groups?? Well they're up to their old tricks and we MUST be present to oppose them. I'm going to paste their description of the event below so that you can see what we are up against... (i.e. how ASTROTURFED they are...)
Join Congressman Jim McDermott, along with Organizing for America, Health Care for America NOW, SEIU, UFCW 21, the Washington State Labor Council, WashPIRG, and Planned Parenthood Votes for an evening rally at Westlake Park. We will release the full list of speakers and acts once confirmed. Please join us as we send the strongest signal yet to Congress that Washingtonians support strong Health Insurance Reform.

It is unreal that they accuse us of mob tactics and astroturfing.
When: Thursday, September 3rd
Where: Westlake Park, 4th Ave. and Pine St., Seattle, WA
Time: Their rally starts at 6:00 p.m. so I suggest we start at 5:00 p.m. and go until 7:00 p.m.
Info: Parking is usually difficult in downtown Seattle, but it might be easier as this is after work hours. If you can though, carpool or take public transportation. Click here for Metro (bus) and here for the light rail.

Every Friday You Can Visit Patty Murray
What: That's right! Every Friday through the month of September, Patty Murray is opening her office to 15 minute visits, all day long. You will get to sit down, one-on-one with her health care staffer , Mary Conway, and talk about your views. This is a pretty golden opportunity (though I feel annoyed because we're supposed to be grateful for these scraps she's throwing us...)
When: Every Friday during September
Where: Federal Building 915 2nd Ave., Seattle, WA
Time: They will see people in 15 minute intervals from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Info: Bring your photo I.D. or you will NOT be allowed into the Federal Building.

That's all for now, but I'll just give you a heads up and say, save these dates:
Friday, September 4th, morning
Sunday, September 13th, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (roughly)
Tuesday, September 15th

Try to go to at least one, if not more. I know it's exhausting, believe me, I'm exhausted. My fiance is exhausted from me being so obsessed with all this stuff - but - we can't rest now. Stay Classy Prez

Hey... I thought profiting was evil...
"I cherished his confidence and momentous support in my race for the presidency," Obama said. "And even as he waged a valiant struggle with a mortal llness, I've profited as president from his encouragement and wisdom."

Is it just me or is that not a little bit tacky? Bad teleprompter!

Does Obama Want Mothers Giving Birth in Bathrooms?

'Cuz that's what he's gonna get. Via England's Mail Online:
The lives of mothers and babies are being put at risk as births in locations ranging from lifts to toilets - even a caravan - went up 15 per cent last year to almost 4,000. Health chiefs admit a lack of maternity beds is partly to blame for the crisis, with hundreds of women in labour being turned away from hospitals because they are full.

And...
Tory health spokesman Andrew Lansley, who obtained the figures, said Labour had cut maternity beds by 2,340, or 22 per cent, since 1997. At the same time birth rates have been rising sharply - up 20 per cent in some areas.

Well, maybe they just needed spend more money, right? Mr. Lansley states:
While some will be unavoidable emergencies, it is extremely distressing for them and their families to be denied a labour bed because their maternity unit is full. It shows the incredible waste that has taken place that mothers are getting this sort of sub-standard treatment despite Gordon Brown's tripling of spending on the NHS.

Or not.

Hmph. I just don't understand... how could this be? Single payer health care - government run options - are so much more efficient, compassionate, effective, and just than private health care systems, right? They increase competition and lower costs, right? Someone quick, get me an Organizing for America flyer so I can keep believing that!

Be sure to read the whole article. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so scary.

Also, be sure to send in your picture to MoveOn.org's "Photo Petition."

Jesse Kelly for Congress

These are the kinds of people we need to be electing to office. Even though I do not live in Arizona, you can be sure that I will be donating to this young man - because the Lord knows I won't be donating to most of the people who run for office around here. We Can't Afford to Wait... to Muck Up Their Campaign

This just in - Moveon.org is sponsoring a "photo petition" for people to send in photos of themselves holding up signs telling why they, or people they love, can't afford to wait. Gag me. Since when do a few potentially falsified anecdotes justify transforming an entire country, its economy, and its citizens liberties? I'm so sick of this overly hyped, overly melodramatic emphasis on "personal stories."

So what's a free market, liberty minded individual to do in the face of this ridiculous campaign? Why flood their inboxes with pictures of us holding up signs telling why a public option and any government control deserves to get T-R-A-S-H-E-D, of course...

See the email below, and get snappin'.

Subject: We can't afford to wait

With just 14 days left until Congress heads back to D.C. to vote on health care, we need to bring the focus back to the real stories of millions of Americans who simply can't wait for real reform. Will you join the photo petition today by submitting a picture of yourself holding up a sign showing why you or someone you love can't afford to wait?

Dear MoveOn member,

Every day we hear new arguments that America should just put off health care reform.

But millions of Americans can't afford to wait. Like Joe B., a MoveOn member whose family is facing over $20,000 in costs for their autistic son's treatment because his insurance company won't cover what the doctor prescribed. And Nicole T.'s mother, who lost her insurance coverage after being diagnosed with cancer.

With just 14 days until Congress heads back to D.C. to vote on health care, we need to bring the health care debate back to what matters.

To do that, we're launching "We Can't Afford to Wait," a photo petition to remind Congress of the real lives at stake. Will you join the photo petition today by submitting a picture of yourself holding up a sign showing why you or someone you love can't afford to wait?

http://pol.moveon.org/cantwait?id=16982-16343159-ApOvwlx&t=5

Submitting a photo is really easy, and we provide step-by-step instructions.

We'll share the photo petition—pictures of thousands of MoveOn members holding up signs saying why they or a loved one can't afford to wait for real health care reform—with Congress and the media.

Through our "We can't afford to wait: Public Option NOW!" vigils next week, by delivering photo albums to each member of Congress, and by making sure your stories are heard in the news media, we'll help bring the debate back to what really matters.

It's too easy for Congress to get mired in the politics of health care, and forget the substance. By reminding them about the true cost of inaction in a visible and visceral way, we can make sure the needs of real Americans are front and center when our senators and representatives head back to Washington to vote on health care reform.

Can you submit a photo today and remind Congress why America can't afford to wait for real reform?

Thanks for all you do.

Hahaha. Ma LibertyBelle says:
Since the legislation, if passed, will not kick in until 2013, the "my friend and I can't afford to wait" campaign is meaningless and someone should point it out to these poor witless pawns.

The Audacity of Hypocrisy

I received this notice of a Young Democrats "vigil" to show support for Obamacare in Maryland. See if you can pick out the almost repulsive hypocrisy, selective amnesia, and self-righteousness that is permeating all of the lefties right now.
The Young Democrats of Harford County is organizing a pro-health care vigil on Tuesday evening, September 8th as congress returns to D.C. This vigil is not intended to emulate the tactics and antics of the 'tea-party' type protests; rather I hope to get a crowd of those that support the initiative to have a quiet demonstration that there is a pro-reform majority out there, and that we can get our point across without disrupting meetings and denigrating public officials.

Disrupting meetings? Denigrating public officials? Have these children completely erased from their memories the last eight years? Michelle Malkin and Zombie remind us of just some of the past "disruptions" and "denigrations" lest we forget.

Yippee! Are You Wise to Social Issues?!

One reason our schools are churning out little thuggy, brainwashed "social justice" activists.

Updated List of Town Halls 'n More

The Evergreen Freedom Foundation's Citizen Action Network just posted a complete list of town halls and some other resources, like questions to ask when you attend one.

Go here for all the information, and don't forget, Adam Smith's town hall is tonight in Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. Organizing for America has asked their people to be there two hours early...

Pot, Kettle; Kettle, Pot

How is this NOT astroturfing???????

Dems Plan Hundreds of Events Starting Tomorrow

DO NOT get complacent.

DO NOT believe that the battle has been won.

DO get out and fight as hard as you can, because if this thing passes, there is no going back and America will never be the same.

The Democrats and their allies are starting a major push tomorrow, Wednesday, by planning hundreds of events across the country. From giant rallies to a bus going around the nation to phone banking and doorbelling.
Reform supporters are planning to hold more than 500 events between Wednesday and when lawmakers return to Washington Sept. 8, ranging from neighborhood organized phone banks to professionally staffed rallies with hundreds of people.

The Democratic National Committee and its grassroots arm, Organizing for America, are helping to organize the effort along with the Health Care for America Now, a group pushing to create government-run insurance plan.

Their bus will stop in Phoenix, Albuquerque, Denver, Des Moines, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Charlotte, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Columbus, Ohio. If you live in one of these cities, start planning now to counter them. Go to the Organizing for America website to find out what kinds of events are happening in your area, and COUNTER THEM!!! You cannot wait for someone else to organize a counter event for you - everyone must take the reins and FIGHT!

For instance, they are hosting "phone banking from your own home" events. We should sign up and get the phones lists ourselves and either call them with a more, ahem, balanced point of view, or just not use the numbers at all. Sign up for a few shifts! DO IT!

  • They are planning a neighborhood town hall in Burien on Thursday, August 27th, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. 400 Sw 152 St, Burien, WA 98166.
  • They are planning a press conference outside of Dave Reichert's office on Monday, August 31st at 2:00 p.m. 2737 78th Ave. SE, Suite 202, Mercer Island, WA 98040. They have titled this event as, "Change Dave Reichert's Mind!"
  • They are planning a press conference outside of Rick Larsen's office on Tuesday, September 1st, at 2:00 p.m. They will be delivering petitions as well. 2930 Wetmore Ave,
    Everett, WA 98201.
And lastly, they are planning some sort of big, big, "save the date" event on Thursday, September 3rd in downtown Seattle, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The rest of the details have yet to be posted. But I know that if they are saving that date, then I sure as hell am too.

There's more on their website, but I don't have the stomach to post it all now.
