Health Care Battle: Post #2

To read Health Care Battle: Post #1 click here.

As most of you know, I am a very action oriented person. I just can't sit around and watch things happen around me. I get way too frustrated and furious. I have found out that Organizing for America (OFA) is starting a canvassing campaign this coming Monday. All across the nation the Ozombies will go out into the neighborhoods to hand out flyers and get people to sign the President's "3 Principles" of health care - never mind that they never say anything about actual legislation or consequences. Nope, just the principles. Sounds pretty hopeychangey to me, and we all know how successful that crud was. We may be in trouble.

Do not fret my friends! There is hope - REAL hope. I have an idea. Why don't we canvass these neighborhoods right before the Obots get there?? Their plans are all out there for us to see. Let's use their technology and organization against them. I just got this idea this morning, so stay tuned for a more cohesive plan. I will post on that as soon as possible.

Our chance of success is completely dependent upon how many of us get off of our butts, get out of our comfort zones, and hit the streets to, as they say, change hearts and minds. If we don't, then we can't complain when the newest Czar tells you your choices are assisted suicide or a slow, painful death 'cuz you ain't getting any care.

Health Care Battle: Post #1

I have a lot of info so I am breaking it into manageable chunks. Stay tuned for the rest!

Way to go patriots! Here in WA State we had citizen activists at every single office of every federal legislator from our state!! Congratulations! And a special congratulations to Everett where 200 patriots came out to show their opposition to rationed, poor quality, and expensive health care - a.k.a. government run health care!

Important Items:

1. If you have pictures from your event, please email me at

2. You MUST keep calling, emailing, and faxing your opinions to Congress, especially committee members and legislator's who are on the edge. Keep asking them if they will pledge to use the same crappy system they are forcing us to use. Don't waste your time with those that are fully committed to ruining our health care.
  • List of legislators and phone numbers, including Blue Dog Dems here
  • Health care talking points here
  • Questions to ask your legislators when you call, email, fax, or visit in person here
  • Very important! Record results from your phone calls/faxes here!
  • Protest sign ideas here

3. I had the opportunity to take part in a very short conference call with Rep. McMorris Rodgers and Rep. Reichert a few days ago, and Reichert shared some very important information. During the committee hearings on health care, each side is allowed to bring "witnesses." But guess what. The minority party is allowed ONE witness for every FIVE of the majority party's witnesses! So when they air the hearings it appears as though everyone is testifying in support of socialized medicine.

Now for something TOTALLY DISTURBING:

I tried to enter the Federal Building here in Seattle to drop off letters to Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell and I was not allowed to enter because I didn't have photo I.D. with me (I had left my purse in the car.) My question: why is a photo I.D. required to enter federal property, which I partially own through my taxes, but you do not need a photo I.D. to VOTE?

The Hour of Power! Protest Socialized Medicine!

Gather your posters and your markers and get on down to your nearest Congressional district office!

Tomorrow morning, Friday, July 17th, Tea Party Patriots are organizing a nationwide, exactly simultaneous protest against socialized medicine. The goal is to have a group of people at every, single office across every state, across the entire nation! There is no formal agenda or speakers. It is just citizens with signs, voices and passion.

This is where you come in! It is only ONE HOUR! Here is what you do:

1. Make a sign tonight. Keep it laser focused on the issue of health care and what you want or what you don't want. Go here for sign ideas. RSVP here.

2. Write a letter to your Representative or Senator to take with you when you go.

3. Go here to find the office nearest you.

4. Show up to that office at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow with your sign and family and friends. Bring as many people as you can. Kids are out of school now, so bring them with you! Drop off your letters.

5. Stay there for ONE HOUR. Meet other like-minded folks and chat! At 10:00 a.m., pack up your stuff and go about your day.

Updated with this chart, the Organizational Chart of the House Democrat's Health Plan:

In other news: The University of Washington has apparently named Obama's "Dreams from My Father" as their required, "common book" for all incoming Freshman.

More From OFA's Bag of Dirty Tricks

Scroll down for the action item.

For those skeptics that have naysayed my "Special Interest" video, here are some delightful excerpts from Organizing for America's astroturf email alerts, all emphasis mine:

Big news on health care: The House just released a detailed reform plan. And at the same time, we're hearing reports of incredible spending -- nearly $10 million each week -- by lobbyists trying to stop progress.
As the President has said, we're either going to get real health care reform this year, or not at all. And with so much pressure from insiders squeezing Congress every day, the outcome is far from certain.

If all of us declare our support -- and ask our friends, family, and neighbors do the same -- we can make sure the voters are heard louder than the lobbyists and pass the real reform we so desperately need.
Every single day, special interests spend a staggering $1.4 million lobbying Congress to shut down the President's agenda for health care reform. To fix our broken system, we'll have to counter big corporate money with a grassroots network of folks like you.

And this is just the tip of the iceburg. This is the type of deluded and manipulative slop that they send out on a weekly basis. It makes me so angry that he and his minions get to slander innocent citizens who are exercising their Constitutional right to oppose his policies and legislation. What a self-righteous, lying, smarmy, underhanded, looting, plundering, crook! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. God forbid that your opposition is just normal, average citizens that disagree with you! Nope, better create some sort of boogie monster to fight.

Again, say it loud and say it proud, I AM NOT A SPECIAL INTEREST!

The other totally grotesque piece of Obama's crusade to kill health care is his sick, and slick, rhetoric, not wholly different from his Hope and Change branding. Check this next excerpt out, and see if you can spot the sliminess:

We need to make sure every single member of Congress hears overwhelming support for President Obama's three principles: Health care reform must reduce costs, guarantee choice -- including the choice of a strong public insurance option, and ensure all Americans have quality, affordable health care. So we need to take our work to the next level. And that means collecting as many signatures as possible in support of the President's three principles. Sign your name in support of the President's health care principles.

This is why our country is floundering. All the man has to do is put down "three principles" without EVER explaining what they mean or how they could be implemented. For instance, it would be nice if he ever discussed what reducing costs means and how we could do this. Does he mean cost to doctors, cost to patients, cost of treatments, cost of what?? Now, specifically, what does guaranteeing choice mean, and how is he going to do it? Oh, and my favorite, the most banal, generic statement ever. He intends to ensure that we all have quality, affordable health care. Oh gosh! Thanks 'Bam. How exactly do you plan on doing that? What if we don't want your help? Alas, he doesn't have to answer any of those questions in any sort of authentic, detailed, or specific manner. He speaks in vague, mystical, circular ways that make people feel good and cause teleprompters to crash to the ground. He might as well just say, "I will make you happy." Why not? What's the difference?

Obama's foot soldiers are pounding the pavement to push Obamacare. What are you doing? Listening to talk radio is not enough, nor is calling/writing/faxing your Reps. You MUST get out into your community as well. Go here to print off a ton of our flyers about health care. Then distribute them. Here are some ideas:

  • Go around your neighborhood and hand them out, or just leave them at the door
  • Stand outside a grocery store (or similar) and hand them out
  • Put one on every car at the stores in your neighborhood

Please, please, please get out there because every minute that you are not, 25 of OFA's finest are out there working.
