Where to Shop and Where to Boycott

Exciting stuff happening in the consumer world!

As I posted a few days ago, the co-founder and CEO of Whole Foods Market stores, John Mackey, came out in opposition to Obamacare in an editorial in the Wall Stree Journal. Now he is paying for it.
Christine Taylor, a 34-year-old New Jersey shopper, vowed never to step foot in another Whole Foods again. "I will no longer be shopping at Whole Foods," Taylor told "I think a CEO should take care that if he speaks about politics, that his beliefs reflect at least the majority of his clients."

So what can you do to support him? Shop at Whole Foods! Go here to find a store near you. If the ones listed are not near you, simply type in your zip code at the top of the page to find the closest stores. Look, I've never shopped at Whole Foods before because I thought it was an uppity, expensive store for liberal yuppies. However, I have somehow had a change of heart, and I will be doing my grocery shopping there every Thursday after our counter protests because lo and behold, we rally on the corner right outside Whole Foods! It is not every day that a person like this has the guts to step forward, and I sincerely hope his business is not hurt because of it. SHOP WHOLE FOODS!

Looks like the White House tentacles are now reaching into product advertisements as well as flagging private conversations. The WH Gestapo are suspiciously close to a group called Color of Change, an African-American political group that is working furiously to pressure companies into pulling their ads from Glenn Beck's show on FOX, in addition to trying to get him fired.
Color Of Change claims that it has pressured a growing roster of companies into pulling their ads from Beck's program: Roche, Sanofi-Aventis, RadioShack, GEICO, Progressive Insurance, Men's Wearhouse, State Farm, Sargento,, and Procter & Gamble.

How is the White House connected? Seems as though the co-founder of this group, Van Jones, is a civil rights attorney, oh, and also the newly appointed WH "Green jobs Czar." They are claiming that their anti-Beck smear campaign is having an effect.
In a Tuesday press release, Color of Change quoted an e-mail sent to the group from GEICO: "On Tuesday, August 4, GEICO instructed its ad buying service to redistribute its inventory of rotational spots on Fox TV to their other network programs, exclusive of the Glenn Beck program. As of August 4, GEICO no longer runs any paid advertising spots during Mr. Beck's program."

I have been with GEICO since I started to drive at the age of sixteen, and my parents have been with them for more than FORTY years. My entire family is switching companies now. Their reason for going on this witch hunt is because Beck accused Obama of acting racist in the aftermath of the Gates incident in Cambridge. Huh. Interesting. I'm pretty sure that the left has been calling everyone on the right "racist" for YEARS.

I guess they don't they like it very much. Companies like GEICO are literally cowering and bowing to pressure from loud-mouthed grievance mongers who probably had no problem calling George Bush racist for eight years. I love it, if you are a lefty and accuse someone of being a racist, you are brave and pure, and if you are a righty and call someone's actions racist, you are a racist yourself. And evil. And you hate puppies.

Rich Noyes, research director for the Media Research Center, points out there wasn't much hue and cry when President Bush was labeled a racist in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

"If the left wants to clean up hate speech, they can start in their own ranks," Noyes says. "We had a syndicated radio host Mike Malloy go on the air after this, and say he hoped Glenn Beck would commit suicide on live TV. A few days later he said he hoped Rush Limbaugh choked to death on his own fat. There are hate-filled things coming out of the left-wing media all the time, but it doesn't seem to get the left riled up or upset."

I already called GEICO and told them I would be switching companies. The article itself has the contact information for Progressive Insurance and GEICO in case you would like to make your views known.

  1. GEICO and Glenn:

    1. We have called GEICO and told them that we are searching for a new insurance company and will make change as soon as we decide on a company that doesn't submit to pressure from goons and hooligans.

    2. Norm Dicks, "Congressman for Life", snuck into and out of a lunch meeting for Democrats only in Port Angeles. About 150 HealthCare Protestors were on the block surrounding the Red Lion Inn...lots of homemade signs, American flags and Don't Tread on Me flags. Everybody was pretty cheerful and very, very civil. Norm Dicks could have shown some courage and stopped to talk to us, but he ran away via the backway.

Message To Norm: You are a coward and travesty of a public servant. You are an embarassment. After 30++ years of this sinecure, time for us to fire you so you can get a taste of real life.

  2. Those silly libs...tolerant of free speech only when it fits their opinion.

Never been to Whole Foods but guess I'll start going now!

  3. Well, maybe then we'll get to see more of Glenn and less of those annoying ads.

  4. I have none of those companies as my insurance except maybe state farm... and we don't have a whole foods here, so, I'll try to do my best at boycotting/antiboycotting!!

  5. Rep Jay Inslee (D) will have a town meeting Sat. Aug.29, from 11:30 am to 1 pm at N. Kitsap High School, 1780 NE Hostmark St., Poulsbo per his letter to the Kitsap Sun Aug.14.
Please post this on your blog.
    Thank you.
