I Think I'm Going to be Sick

A little light health care reading from our friends over at National Review. Get ready for that Obamacare...
The plan would not initially create a government-run, single-payer system such as those in Canada and Britain. Private insurance would still exist, at least for a time. But it would be reduced to little more than a public utility, operating much like the electric company, with the government regulating every aspect of its operation. It would be mandated both that employers offer coverage and that individuals buy it. A government-run plan, similar to Medicare, would be set up to compete with private insurers. The government would undertake comparative-effectiveness and cost-effectiveness research, and use the results to impose practice guidelines on providers. Private insurance would face a host of new regulations, including a requirement to insure all applicants and a prohibition on pricing premiums on the basis of risk. Subsidies would be extended to help middle earners purchase insurance. And the government would subsidize and manage the development of a national system of electronic medical records.

Check it out and read the whole article. Then, when you are sufficiently steamed, get some poster making materials and get ready for May 30th.

  1. Great, these liberal tools are going to ruin the best healthcare system in the world, all in the name of fairness and entitlement and keeping the moochers on their payroll. Get ready for a heathcare program that is run just as well as Medicade, Medicare, and Social Security. Yeah, those operate so efficiently, right? Wake up people!

  2. Man, what a queasy feeling I'm getting just reading this. Worse than swine flu... But hey, it's a way to cull the population down really fast, once they start triaging everybody over 50 into the "wait for care" list. Of course, they don't realize their tax base is going to shrink, then the care level will drop, then more will die from neglect, then the tax base will drop... ad infinitum until we're finally at Cuba-care! And then they can pass out rice cookers to every household. Wooopeee. But we must be appropriately grateful to The One, as He is our Savior. God help us.
