Excuse me. Though I am laughing out loud, this is serious business. The Drudge Report links to a WSJ article about the Democrats hiring a speed reader to get through the monstrously sized climate bill that awaits passage out of committee. The "funny" part:
Republicans on the committee have said they may force the reading of the entire 46-page bill -- as well as major amendments that measure several hundred pages -- all aloud.
Funny right? Funny that one party is contemplating forcing the rest of Congress to actually read the freaking bill. Why does a member of Congress have to be forced into reading any bill?? Especially one which has such damning consequences for every American and the entire economy? Keep laughing. It gets better.
Republicans haven't tried the tactic, but Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D., Calif.) is prepared. A committee spokeswoman said the speed reader -- a young man who was on door duty at the hearing as he awaited a call to the microphone -- was hired to help staffers.
How long are we going to sity idly by while these gold-diggers continue to make a mockery of our system? Remember, they work FOR YOU.
Question: Why didn't Republicans invoke this procedure for the stimulus bill?
